Word on the street is that I sometimes write a blog.... who knew. Today I've decided to start a new style of blog that I will try to use every couple of weeks to touch on a few things that are going on and not dive too deep into any one thing. I'm still going to try and do some more in depth ones as well, just not as often. So anyways here we go:
Halloween:
So I have a party that I must dress up for on Friday and I still have not decided what to dress up as. I would love help picking something. Please keep in mind that I am broke, lazy, and only have till friday. I have a backup in case the creative juices don't flow, and an idea that could work if I have time to get myself the right wig this week.
Church:
Church has been great as of late. Yesterday we did not have a sermon, instead went into the neighborhood and handed out flyers for our family fun day coming up on saturday. My friends Matty, Mel, and Joshie-pu (trying out nicknames for him, not sure about this one) brought the pain (in a good way) during worship. Also, I've been taking a class with them called Alpha Course. It's been pretty cool and fun learning and growing with my good friends.
Cowboys:
Just when I'm ready to give up hope, they go and play a great game against the Falcons. The Cowboys are like the ex girlfriend you keep going back to. You know that they aren't good for you, that most of the time you end up disappointed, and in the end will break your heart. But you just can't let go because you remember what they used to be and keep hoping they will go back to that.
Work:
So work hasn't been great as of late. There has been some stress in our office, so I've decided to start a countdown to Christmas (less that two months). On the bright side, I do have two fantastic workstudies that work for me that really do help make the days go by faster. They're great girls, even though one does remind me of Sarah.
Scripture:
Here is the scripture that I read yesterday that I really liked and got alot from.
James 1:2-7
2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
I really liked the second half of this passage. We hear all the time, "Ask and you shall receive." Well alot of people say that they pray for something and it doesn't happen and wonder why. If we truly want change and development in our lives, we can't just ask God for help. We have to believe that He can and will change us, without doubt in our hearts. Asking God to make things better is not enough, we must believe that He will make things better.
