Psych
Me and my friend, Matt "Dust Bunny" Waite have spent many conversations discussing the brilliance of this show.
Premise: Two lifelong friends (one with keen observation skills, the other with the 'super sniffer' work freelance for the police department solving crimes.
Brilliance: The quick wit, love of all things 80's, and pop culture references.
Favorite moment: In the latest episode, Shawn and Gus disguise themselves in an original battlestar galactica helmet and Jorrie's glasses from star trek to follow a suspect.
Big Bang Theory
A half hour of content based around five homosapiens, three male, one female, one acquaintance.
Premise: Four nerdy friends (Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj) integrate their attractive neighbor (Penny) into their lives.
Brilliance: Anything Sheldon Cooper does.
Favorite Moment: The face Sheldon makes upon receiving his Saturn Day (Christmas) gift from Penny, a signed used napkin from Leonard Nimoy.
Chuck
Chuck might be the first nice guy not to finish last. Dude gets some attractive ladies.
Premise: Nerd herder downloads software that makes him the ultimate spy, with a few glitches.
Brilliance: Chuck's relationship with those around him. Sarah, his dream girl, Casey his big brother, Morgan his best friend, Ellie his sister, and Awesome his man crush.
Favorite Moment: Episode where Morgan finds out that Chuck is a spy and isn't upset.
Friday Night Lights
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
Premise: Follows the lives of the coaches and players of a small Texas town's football team.
Brilliance: The fact that the show isn't really a sports show. It's a really strong character show that uses sports to advance their character development.
Favorite Moment: Second episode when coach takes his sophomore qb out to the stadium and explains to him that it's not about completing passes, it's about being a leader.
V
A slow starting show that keeps getting better.
Premise: Aliens show up pretending to be peaceful, but are engaged in a covert war with a faction of humans who know their true reason for coming to earth (I just earned 5 nerd points).
Brilliance: Making Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet from Lost) the lead character, forcing me to watch this show, then actually making it good.
Favorite Moment: Seeing what the visitors look like under their human skin.
